Diversity Activities National Association, also known as DANA Foundations (“DANA,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that supports foster, adoptive, and high-risk children and families through resources, training, activities, and community support. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect information when you visit danafoundations.org, use our online shop, make a donation, or contact us.
Our website is intended for adults. Although DANA serves children and youth through its programs, this Policy describes information collected through our website and online services. Program information collected outside the website may be subject to separate notices or requirements.

Please avoid sending sensitive personal or health information through general website forms or email unless it is necessary and you are comfortable doing so.
Payment information
Payments and donations are handled through third-party payment providers, which may include the payment processor used by our online shop and the Zeffy donation platform. Those providers collect and process payment information under their own privacy policies and terms. DANA may receive transaction details, such as the amount, date, status, and a receipt or transaction identifier, but we do not intend to collect or store full payment card numbers through our website.

- Internet Protocol (IP) address and approximate location derived from it;
- browser type, device type, operating system, and language settings;

- information collected through cookies and similar technologies.
2. How we use information
- process and fulfill orders, donations, and related requests;

- respond to questions, inquiries, and requests for assistance;
- send DANA news, updates, or other communications where permitted by law and consistent with your preferences;

3. Cookies and similar technologies
Our website and service providers may use cookies and similar technologies to support website operation, remember preferences, understand website use, and improve performance. You can manage cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect some website features.
4. Children’s privacy
DANA’s programs serve children and youth, but our website and online shop are intended for adults and are not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information online from children under 13 without the legally required parental consent. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information to us through the website, please contact us using the information in Section 12. We will take reasonable steps to review the request and, where appropriate, delete the information.
If we learn that we collected personal information from a child under 13 in a manner requiring parental consent without obtaining that consent, we will take steps to address the information as required by applicable law, including deleting it when appropriate.
5. When we disclose information
We do not sell personal information. We may disclose information in the following circumstances:
- Service providers: To providers that help us operate the website, shop, donation services, communications, analytics, payment processing, hosting, or other organizational functions. These providers may use information only as necessary to perform services for us or as otherwise permitted by law.
- Payment and donation platforms: To the payment processors and donation platforms you use, including Zeffy when you make a donation through its platform. Their handling of information is governed by their own privacy policies and terms.
- Legal and safety reasons: When we believe disclosure is required by law, legal process, or a government request, or is reasonably necessary to protect the rights, safety, or property of DANA, our community, or others.
- With your direction or consent: When you ask us to share information or otherwise consent to disclosure.
- Organizational changes: If necessary in connection with a restructuring or transfer of organizational operations, subject to applicable law and appropriate safeguards.
We do not control the privacy practices of third-party websites or platforms. Please review their privacy policies before providing information directly to them.
6. Data security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect information in our care. No website, transmission, or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Please take care when sharing information online and contact us if you believe your information may have been compromised.
7. Data retention
We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, including to fulfill transactions and requests, maintain appropriate donation and financial records, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Retention periods may vary depending on the type of information and the reason it was collected. When information is no longer needed, we will take reasonable steps to delete it or de-identify it, subject to applicable law.
8. Your choices and privacy rights
You may contact us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information you have provided to DANA. We may need to verify your identity before responding. We may also retain certain information where required or permitted by law, including information needed for financial records or to complete a transaction.
You may opt out of non-transactional email communications by using the unsubscribe instructions in the message or by contacting us. Even if you opt out, we may still send communications necessary to complete an order, acknowledge a donation, respond to your inquiry, or provide other service-related information.
Privacy rights differ by location and may be subject to legal exceptions. Where applicable law gives you additional rights, you may exercise them by contacting us using the details in Section 12.
9. Do Not Track
Some browsers offer a “Do Not Track” setting. Because there is no uniform standard for how websites should respond to these signals, our website may not respond to them. You can manage cookies using your browser settings.
10. Third-party services
Our website may link to or use third-party services, including the Zeffy donation platform and payment processors. When you use those services or follow an external link, the third party’s privacy policy and terms apply to its handling of your information. We encourage you to review those policies.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and revise the “Last updated” date. If changes are material, we will take any additional steps required by law. Your continued use of the website after an updated Policy is posted means you have received notice of the updated Policy.
